I hope you and yours had a wonderful Thanksgiving. The college guys were home and we had incredible beach weather. We also decided maybe this was our last turkey. None of us is nuts for it. Next year might be crab legs and corn casserole. Of course it’s not really about the food, but being grateful and being together.
Today is my sweet man’s birthday. I have never been more proud of him. He is faith-filled, funny, and fun. In the last few years, his ability to stay above the fray with these three f’s has been remarkable on so many levels. My esteem for him grows every year.
Do you have some favorite Advent traditions? If not, I have a few suggestions for you. Nine years ago I self-published a little Advent devotional and of all I’ve written over the years, I think I am most satisfied1 with Making Room for the Light. It is available on Amazon and if you order today you can get it by December 1st. This year I also plan to read through the daily devotional available through the C.S. Lewis Institute, which is based on Handel’s Messiah. You can sign up for it here: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/sl/iLS3OrV/messiah.
Here on Spurstack I plan to post daily as a kind of recap/discussion of both of these devotionals. I hope some of you will comment as well. I am so excited for this season. Not for the gifts or the parties, but for the rejoicing over the birth of Our Savior.
I say most satisfied because I don’t think complete satisfaction is possible for a writer. When I have re-read it I find many things I would change, but overall I think it is my best work.
I ordered your book too!!
Looking forward to the devotional and your recaps!
