Yesterday Will and I went to Barnes & Noble. We used to go to bookstores more. Heck, when we were first married we pretty regularly went to the mall as an outing on weekends. We’d look at books and CDs and even puppies. We’d eat at mall restaurants. We’d get Cinnabon or Auntie Anne’s. Now, it seems we only happen into the mall or a bookstore if we need something specific. Yesterday I was there to buy a new calendar (I like having an old school paper planner) and new prayer journal. Both are pictured above.
I’ve fallen into a season of not writing in a specific prayer journal regularly. And that’s a shame because I am always so blessed by keeping a prayer journal. Do you write in a prayer journal? Nothing has so convinced me of the power of prayer than to look back and see how lovingly and specifically God has answered my prayers. What a shame that I have seasons where I fail to do it! Alas I hope that all changes tomorrow!
Today I wrote two of my favorite quotes on prayer from Richard Foster in my new journal:
“All who have walked with God have viewed prayer as the main business of their lives.”
“Your own children can and should be changed through your prayers.”
Similarly, Oswald Chambers said, “The real business of your life as a saved soul is intercessory prayer.”
Most importantly, Jesus said, “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Digging Deeper:
How would you rate yourself as a prayer warrior?
How specifically can you do better?
Jenny just found out collective prayer journal (for all our housemates our senior year in college). So special!
