Advent December 9
The themes from today’s devotionals are somewhat aligned. In the CSLI devotional the author recommends attending a live performance of Handel’s Messiah this Advent and being ready to sing along (when invited). In Making Room I wrote about how we are called to use the gifts that God has given us.
The last few years, with moving from Tennessee to Florida, have been some of the sweetest of my life. We had a season of sabbatical rest that was incredible on so many levels. But the thing about sabbaticals is they are temporary. Getting back to scheduled life was necessary, and I’m fairly content with where I am currently using my gifts, although there’s always room for improvement. But it is such a joy to see others use their God-given gifts for His glory, and I cannot say I have ever felt like I’ve nailed it. Maybe 2024 will be my year!
Do you feel like you know how God has uniquely gifted you? Do you feel good about how you are putting such gifts to use? Do you feel motivated to use your gifts when you ponder how lovingly and purposefully God knit you together?
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10
