In Making Room I wrote about “Emmanuel” meaning “God with us.” The CSLI devotional was based on the Scripture passage and the excerpt from Messiah that talks about lifting up our heads for the King of Glory is coming. In essence, both touch on the presence of God in our lives.
Christmastime is a hard season for a significant portion of the population. Family gatherings can be reminders of how things used to be. Loss and change touch everyone at some point, and celebrating Christmas can exacerbate the underlying heartache. Are you grieving something this year? Do you have others in your life who are struggling right now?
How comforting to know that Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to comfort and to guide us. We are never alone, and He will never forsake us. Jesus said:
“Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.” John 16:7
Digging Deeper:
Where do you need the comfort and guidance of the “Helper” today?
Where do you sense the Holy Spirit prompting you to love someone who is hurting this season?
Thank you for this important reminder 😇
