Advent December 20th
In Making Room I wrote about being so tired you can hardly think straight. As a mom of young boys, who were involved in everything under the sun, I vividly remember running from one thing to the next. In some ways, I miss that season. In other ways, I feel like I’m still running from one thing to the next but in different ways. Maybe I just seek an absurd pace? Perhaps my lack of relief is 100% self-inflicted.
My friend, Tom Tarrants, was the author of today’s CSLI devotional. He wrote the following:
Yet lasting relief can be found. It is found in a Person: Jesus, the Messiah, the Son of God. He came from heaven to earth to offer Himself as “the lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:2). To rescue the wandering sheep of God, Jesus endured suffering, rejection, sorrow, grief, and ultimately death itself, taking upon Himself all the iniquities of those who have gone astray.
In what ways do you seek relief? In what aways is your need for relief self-inflicted? Does the peace of the stable feel magnetic to you during this season?
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7

How does the humility of Jesus’ earthly life — from beginning to end — make you feel?
Where in your life you need relief? Do you think the Person of Jesus is the answer?
